These terms govern the use of Vidya (vidya.school), school management software operated by Seema Computers, Center Point Complex, Nainital Road Baheri, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh 243201, India. By using the service, a school and the people it gives accounts to accept these terms.
Vidya is for schools and the people a school authorises — its management, staff, and the guardians of its pupils. A school applies for an account and we approve it before any subdomain or data is created. Accounts are created by the school for named people and are not to be shared.
A school keeps ownership of everything it enters. We claim no right over a school's pupil records, results or accounts, and we do not use them for any purpose beyond running the service for that school. How we handle them is set out in the Privacy Policy.
The school is responsible for what it records being accurate and lawfully collected, for telling its parents and staff that it uses Vidya, and for who at the school holds which role. Vidya enforces the roles a school assigns; it cannot judge whether the school assigned them to the right people.
Charges, where they apply, are quoted to the school in advance and invoiced by Seema Computers. Schools onboarded during the current launch period are not charged for their first year. Nothing is charged without a quotation the school has accepted.
We aim to keep the service available and the data safe, we take daily backups, and we fix faults as quickly as a small team can. We do not promise uninterrupted service: the software is updated regularly, and an update may take the site offline for a short time. Where we can choose, we make those changes outside school hours.
We will not sell a school's data, show advertising to anyone, or give a school's records to a third party except where the law requires it or the school instructs it.
Do not attempt to reach another school's data, probe or disrupt the service, upload anything unlawful, or use the service to send anything a parent or member of staff has not agreed to receive. We may suspend an account being used this way.
A school may stop using Vidya at any time. On request we will return its data in a readable form, or delete it. We may end a school's account for non-payment of an accepted quotation, or for a serious breach of these terms, and we will give notice and a chance to export the data first.
Vidya is a record-keeping tool. The school remains responsible for its own decisions — what it charges, what it certifies, what it publishes. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim is limited to the fees the school paid us for the twelve months before it arose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified to the schools using the service, and the date at the top will change.
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh have jurisdiction.
